The 2-foot and 3-foot Portable Drinking Post’s are a convenient source of water for your horses, cows, sheep and other livestock. Easy to transport, this portable waterer can be set up anywhere and connected to a garden hose. Easy to use, thirsty animals press their nose to the paddle in an empty bowl.

For horses, most use the 3′ Portable Drinking Post.

For almost all other animals, the 2′ Portable Drinking Post may be best sitting only 24″ off of the ground, it’s easier for shorter animals to access.

Although we are in the deep south and don't have to battle the sub-zero winters...DP Waterers are still life savers. These waterers have saved our lives in the summer when we have to pour out hundreds of gallons of water every day to keep our water fresh, cool and algae free. Also for those weeks during the winter when we struggle with icy watering troughs the DP Waterers are like little miracles in our pasture (since the only place we are used to ice is in our sweet tea!). I'm not sure how I could love my Drinking Post waterers more!! We installed them about 2 years ago so they've gone through 2 winters and summers and I think they paid for themselves the first week after installing them! The horses all learned quickly. OK, we have one mare (she's a bit wonky in the head in many ways...) who was a bit of a s l o w learner, but we helped her along and she was using them within three days. Everyone else (15+ horses) had NO trouble whatsoever. The test for me was my big draft cross because he destroys everything and he's been unable to figure out a way to completely destroy them either! They've been put to the test in sub-arctic long stretches and we've never ever had any issues with freezing. And, NO HEATERS!! That alone saves us so much money and time!! We will be putting a new structure up and we will be planning from the start where we want our new DP waterers!! I will NEVER have horses without these!! Oh, and I forgot to mention, there's no algae to deal with in tanks in the summer either! NO, I am NOT paid by them, I just love them that much!! When you're as old as I am and you've had to haul your share of water and break ice as much as I have, to find a solution that seems magical is the best feeling. LOVE LOVE LOVE them. OOOH - and their customer service if you do have a problem??? UNBELIEVABLE! My draft X that destroys literally everything found a way not to break the waterer, but the outside sheath. I called to order a replacement part and he asked for the measurements and sent one to me free of charge. LOVE the product and LOVE the company!! - 4/16/2023

I LOVE my drinking post!! Think about all of the stress related to water for your horse, now imagine that gone. No more worrying about whether your horse has water, cleaning buckets or troughs, dumping toughs that could be a breeding ground for algae and mosquitoes, filling buckets, de-icing them, worrying about heated water buckets getting unplugged, etc. It was easy to install - my well guy hooked it up easily and with no prior experience. It was easy to trouble-shoot. When extreme cold weather hit, I had a problem with it leaking. I called Brad who talked me through how to fix it and I (with no plumbing where-with-all) fixed it in 30 seconds. I was very worried that my horse wouldn't figure out how to use it. The key is to 1. introduce them to it and you depress the paddle so that they get used to the sound and know it is where water comes out and 2. use the training paddle. I didn't use the training paddle and my horse wasn't using the waterer. The second I put on the training paddle and dribbled molasses in the bowl he got it IMMEDIATELY. The waterer is outside (under a barn overhang). When I stable my horse overnight in a stall I use a bucket. I've seen him come out of the stall and go to the drinking post rather than drink out of his bucket, he likes it that much. Honestly, I don't know why all horse people don't have one. - 2/01/2020

We installed DP two years ago in both our barn and pasture. Couldn't be more happy. We had a terrible long winter in the PNW and midst the ice and snow the DP's never failed. Such a gift not to have to plug in water heaters and deal with breaking ice. We bring in new horses for training and it has been amazing to me how quickly they learn to drink from the DP. We installed our first drinking post a few months ago in our Welsh pony's field. He figured out how to use it immediately and seems to enjoy playing with it too. My other horse has a traditional water trough with a float and in the summer weather it turns green and needs dumped and cleaned every few days. The drinking post on the other hand provides clean, cool water on demand and takes no work on my part. I really like it! I will eventually install one for my horse too. We installed one last year (2018) and it worked beautifully through a very cold, windy Pennsylvania winter. I just purchased two more for other pastures and can’t wait till the ground thaws to get them installed!! They have stood up to our horses kicking at them, chewing on them and trying to bite the paddle! The post did not get brittle in the cold like PVC does. Great work saving product!! Drinking post is just as they claim. My horses have always used a trough. Anyone that has used or uses a trough knows that in the winter you always have to make sure the heater is working and in the summer always keeping it clean from insects. My horses learned quickly to use the post and seem to be drinking more often. I would recommend this to anyone that is just thinking about getting one and on the fence about it. It might be a little more work than a trough to get started but it is well worth the effort for you and your livestock. - 4/16/2021

My Drinking Post waterer is one of the best purchases I've ever made for me and my horses. I was worried that my 38+ year old gelding would not be able to work it, but he figured it out in no time. We only had 1 issue with it freezing in over 5 years of New England winters and the customer service when we called about that was fabulous. They helped us figure out the problem and it hasn't happened again since. It is so reassuring knowing that my horses have fresh water at a good temperature all the time... and with no electricity to worry about or pay for. We ordered about 5 or 6 last year they were easy to install had some hiccups getting them them to work at first but due to the great customer service that walked us through all the trouble shooting and making sure we had everything we needed they are all working great it's the first winter with them they aren't missing a beat would highly recommend plan on buying a few more - 11/24/2019

Drinking post is a great invention! I had problems with pigeon's using my horses water troth for their everyday use, it was getting gross. I had to clean it everyday. I now have 2 drinking posts and my horses use them with no problem. I don't have to clean up after pigeon's either! Great buy. Easy to install too. - 4/16/2021

We bought our drinking posts about 3 years ago. I have had zero issues with them. We are on a well so once every fall I do take them apart and fully clean them since I do get sediment from the well. However city water should have no issues. My cows have fresh water even on the coldest days and we had record negative temps last winter! The drinking posts did great. I will be ordering more as we add more pens around the barn area. These are a must have for anyone that deals with frozen hoses, tank heaters, evaporation, and algae build up in normal waterers. They are great for horses and cattle and pigs as well. A post for our pigs is in the list for next summer. - 11/16/2023

We installed our drinking post this summer for our two warmbloods and 1 mule. I actually have looked forward to the electric bill each month to see the cost savings that the drinking post has given us. So far this winter our electric bill is averaging 300 kWh less then the same month last year when we were using a water tank heater. That is $30 of savings a month just from 1 tank heater! At this rate the drinking post will pay for itself in 2.5 winters. It has been worth every penny! My animals love drinking out of it, getting a fresh consistent temperature water each time. - 2/19/2020
