The 2-foot and 3-foot Portable Drinking Post’s are a convenient source of water for your horses, cows, sheep and other livestock. Easy to transport, this portable waterer can be set up anywhere and connected to a garden hose. Easy to use, thirsty animals press their nose to the paddle in an empty bowl.

For horses, most use the 3′ Portable Drinking Post.

For almost all other animals, the 2′ Portable Drinking Post may be best sitting only 24″ off of the ground, it’s easier for shorter animals to access.

I love it!!!! no more checking the trough, no more cleaning the trough, I did take the advice of another review and built a cage out of 1x1x1/4 angle iron I had around the farm, same length as the post and buried with the post. Glad I did, the first day 10 cows figured it out, they were pretty rough around the post. Haven't had this during the winter yet, but I'm not expecting to have any problems since I went an extra foot deeper than recommended depth with good gravel ground and excellent drainage. Really glad I bought two, both pastures have clean fresh water all the time. Highly recommend, no wires, breakers, and if my power goes out, which happens more than I like, I'm able to run my water pump with a back up generator and not worry about the extra draw to run a heater also! - 4/16/2022

We currently have 8 drinking post automatic waterers for our horses. We have one in each of 3 paddocks and 1 in each of our 5 stalls. Installing the drinking post automatic waterers was the best decision we made when building our barn and paddocks 4 years ago. A special shout out to Brad at drinking post who's customer service is above 5 stars - he is always there to help with any questions and goes above and beyond the call of duty to help with questions, etc. I highly recommend drinking post waterers to everyone I know. They are maintenance free except for the occassional cleaning of grass that horses sometimes leave when they take a drink. I love these waterers!!! - 11/17/2020

I have to say I had my doubts when looking for a waterer that would not freeze but needed no electricity. After purchasing ours and having it a little over a year now, I would never use anything else. Highly recommend drinking post waterers! Not only is the product extremely durable, it truly never freezes! All the questions I’ve had were only a simple phone call away, never had to wait on a hold line just to be transferred to another country, they pick up answer all questions and have even sent out parts that I didn’t know I needed! Just bought my second one to put in the paddock. After two years I've had no issues (knock on wood) and just bought another horse who watched the others and then walked up and drank from it. Great not having to worry about freezing. I did install a shut off valve 'just in case' which adds some peace of mind for very little cost. Now some followup after 4 years with first one and one year with 2nd. one. All of above still applies EXCEPT the "hinge" on the plate broke off and there was no water available to the 4 y/o drinking post. Keep an eye out for horses/livestock standing around it for long periods of time. - 4/16/2021

My Drinking Post waterer is one of the best purchases I've ever made for me and my horses. I was worried that my 38+ year old gelding would not be able to work it, but he figured it out in no time. We only had 1 issue with it freezing in over 5 years of New England winters and the customer service when we called about that was fabulous. They helped us figure out the problem and it hasn't happened again since. It is so reassuring knowing that my horses have fresh water at a good temperature all the time... and with no electricity to worry about or pay for. We installed the drinking posts two years ago. This last weekend was beyond cold in Ontario Canada. (-41 Celsius) unfortunately the anchor for the paddle broke right off the bottom of the bowl. HOWEVER, System Fencing, (Dealer) had the bowl in stock and less than 24 hrs later we were up and running again. So easy to fix and replace even in this temperature. Thank you for an exceptional product! (And calling me back even though I didn’t need your help after all in finding my closest dealer). - 1/22/2019

We installed one last year (2018) and it worked beautifully through a very cold, windy Pennsylvania winter. I just purchased two more for other pastures and can’t wait till the ground thaws to get them installed!! They have stood up to our horses kicking at them, chewing on them and trying to bite the paddle! The post did not get brittle in the cold like PVC does. Great work saving product!! We installed a Drinking Post in November 2017 and have gone through two of the most brutal February’s we can remember in Montana. The only problem we had was when it was -32 temperature and -59 wind chill. The paddle froze open and that was my fault as I had it screwed down too tight. The DP is easy to install, uses no power and ours works awesome. I have had a couple issues with a horse that didn’t want to learn how to drink and Brad answered almost immediately with a solution. All of our other horses caught on to the DP in a day or two. We have used other automatic waterers and the DP is hands down better! We love our DP! - 3/10/2019

We installed our first drinking post a few months ago in our Welsh pony's field. He figured out how to use it immediately and seems to enjoy playing with it too. My other horse has a traditional water trough with a float and in the summer weather it turns green and needs dumped and cleaned every few days. The drinking post on the other hand provides clean, cool water on demand and takes no work on my part. I really like it! I will eventually install one for my horse too. We have four systems. The oldest one was installed about four years ago, and we had our first problem when the bowl stopped draining. Customer service was amazing. Tracked the trouble down to the weight inside the valve. The Company sent us a replacement for free. Installed and fixed the problem. After years of having electric heaters run to our automatic waterers, these systems are a life saver. If I had a gripe, it would be they don’t do a great job on the website at explaining, in written directions, how these systems work and how to disassemble/reassemble them. We are in the sticks so the YouTube videos aren’t as helpful. See the photo of the weight. This came out of a 6’ waterer and obviously worked for a good while; however, when draining stopped, the hexagonal replacement the company sent took care of the issue immediately. - 10/13/2024

Drinking post is a great invention! I had problems with pigeon's using my horses water troth for their everyday use, it was getting gross. I had to clean it everyday. I now have 2 drinking posts and my horses use them with no problem. I don't have to clean up after pigeon's either! Great buy. Easy to install too. - 4/16/2021

Once installed, through the water filter, this has been the easiest thing ever. It took the horses a little while to figure out but now they all love it. Only buckets I clean is in their stalls. They rarely drink out of that and I think its because its not clean enough. LOL! I just go by occasionally and make sure it is clean (grass, rock, leaves, bird poop). Now I'm wanting one for my goats. - 7/16/2023
