The Ultimate Drinking Post for Pigs/Hogs

The Drinking Post is the most reliable automatic waterer for pigs and hogs. It will eliminate all your watering chores – no more chopping ice, scrubbing algae, filling tanks, or dragging hoses! The bowl fills and drains with each use, which provides your animals with fresh, clean water every time they take a drink. It doesn’t require any electricity and it can stay frost-free in temps as low as -50 F/-45.5 C! It’s so sturdy and durable that it’s backed with a 5 Year Warranty!

The Pig Paddle Attachment: The Drinking Post for Pigs/Hogs features a small block that attaches to the standard flat paddle. To activate the water, they push the block forward with their snout. This motion is much easier for pigs than pushing the paddle down. This paddle attachment will come included with your Drinking Post for Pigs/Hogs.

We currently have 8 drinking post automatic waterers for our horses. We have one in each of 3 paddocks and 1 in each of our 5 stalls. Installing the drinking post automatic waterers was the best decision we made when building our barn and paddocks 4 years ago. A special shout out to Brad at drinking post who's customer service is above 5 stars - he is always there to help with any questions and goes above and beyond the call of duty to help with questions, etc. I highly recommend drinking post waterers to everyone I know. They are maintenance free except for the occassional cleaning of grass that horses sometimes leave when they take a drink. I love these waterers!!! - 11/17/2020

We bought our drinking posts about 3 years ago. I have had zero issues with them. We are on a well so once every fall I do take them apart and fully clean them since I do get sediment from the well. However city water should have no issues. My cows have fresh water even on the coldest days and we had record negative temps last winter! The drinking posts did great. I will be ordering more as we add more pens around the barn area. These are a must have for anyone that deals with frozen hoses, tank heaters, evaporation, and algae build up in normal waterers. They are great for horses and cattle and pigs as well. A post for our pigs is in the list for next summer. - 11/16/2023

I love it!!!! no more checking the trough, no more cleaning the trough, I did take the advice of another review and built a cage out of 1x1x1/4 angle iron I had around the farm, same length as the post and buried with the post. Glad I did, the first day 10 cows figured it out, they were pretty rough around the post. Haven't had this during the winter yet, but I'm not expecting to have any problems since I went an extra foot deeper than recommended depth with good gravel ground and excellent drainage. Really glad I bought two, both pastures have clean fresh water all the time. Highly recommend, no wires, breakers, and if my power goes out, which happens more than I like, I'm able to run my water pump with a back up generator and not worry about the extra draw to run a heater also! - 4/16/2022

Just bought my second one to put in the paddock. After two years I've had no issues (knock on wood) and just bought another horse who watched the others and then walked up and drank from it. Great not having to worry about freezing. I did install a shut off valve 'just in case' which adds some peace of mind for very little cost. Now some followup after 4 years with first one and one year with 2nd. one. All of above still applies EXCEPT the "hinge" on the plate broke off and there was no water available to the 4 y/o drinking post. Keep an eye out for horses/livestock standing around it for long periods of time. - 4/16/2021

We installed DP two years ago in both our barn and pasture. Couldn't be more happy. We had a terrible long winter in the PNW and midst the ice and snow the DP's never failed. We installed our first drinking post a few months ago in our Welsh pony's field. He figured out how to use it immediately and seems to enjoy playing with it too. My other horse has a traditional water trough with a float and in the summer weather it turns green and needs dumped and cleaned every few days. The drinking post on the other hand provides clean, cool water on demand and takes no work on my part. I really like it! I will eventually install one for my horse too. We installed our drinking post this summer for our two warmbloods and 1 mule. I actually have looked forward to the electric bill each month to see the cost savings that the drinking post has given us. So far this winter our electric bill is averaging 300 kWh less then the same month last year when we were using a water tank heater. That is $30 of savings a month just from 1 tank heater! At this rate the drinking post will pay for itself in 2.5 winters. It has been worth every penny! I live in Montana, this thing is incredible. I wish I could sell them because they would be the easiest sell ever. Even with weeks of -20 degree nights and highs of maybe 5 degrees, the horses have water. I have never had to clean it and never had an issue. 3 years, 3 horses, it is fantastic.
