The Ultimate Drinking Post for Sheep and Goats

The Drinking Post is the most reliable automatic waterer for sheep and goats. It will eliminate all your watering chores – no more chopping ice, scrubbing algae, filling tanks, or dragging hoses! The bowl fills and drains with each use, which provides your animals with fresh, clean water every time they take a drink. It doesn’t require any electricity and it can stay frost-free in temps as low as -50 F/-45.5 C! It’s so sturdy and durable that we’ve backed every Ultimate Drinking Post with a 5 Year Warranty!

The Livestock Paddle Attachment: The Drinking Post for Sheep/Goats features a weighted riser block that attaches to the standard flat paddle. To activate the water, they will butt the riser block forward with their head. This “butting” motion is a natural action for sheep and goats, so it’s more comfortable to use and easier to learn! The Livestock Paddle Attachment will come included with your Drinking Post for Sheep/Goats.

its been 4 years since we installed our 1st drinking post and 3 years since we installed the rest. We have 5 total and I will say this. We have had zero issues with them and it has made life so much easier. They never freeze and cleaning takes 2 mins. I've shopped every waterer on the market and I know of at least 5 different brands that are used buy other horse farms around us and by far Drinking post is the best choice by far. they are a little time consuming to install so I was skeptical at first but been probably one of the best things we have done for our horses. - 4/16/2022

These are life changing! Say goodbye to scrubbing algae, filling troughs, frozen hoses, breaking ice, and worrying that your horse isn't drinking enough because the water got hot in the sun. We own a small farm/boarding facility and had 16 of these waterers installed and I couldn't be happier. They're practically maintenance-free and always work - even in the dead of winter. Not only do our horses love them (all but one learned how to use them in under 3 days…the dum-dum took a full 7 days), but they are also great for the goats. We're even contemplating modifying one so it sits just a few inches off the ground so the pigs can use them too! The drinking post has made our life so much easier!!! No more carrying buckets or wrestling hoses ! We highly recommend buying this product. We trained our horses in 2 days exactly like the video says . It works!!!! It did take a few weeks to train the donkeys, but donkeys are stubborn that’s not a secret lol they love the waterer and actually use it for entertainment. Also customer service is amazing . I think it's been about 6 or 7 years with a DPW and going strong. Northern Illinois winter is no problem. Why anyone is still using heated waterers is a mystery to me. The DPW pays for itself in the savings compared to the energy use of a heated waterer, not to mention how little maintenance it needs. - 4/16/2022

I was skeptical that my mini’s would be able to use the watering post but after dealing with hot Florida summers, mold and hoses I really wanted to give it a try. In the beginning the ponies couldn’t figure out the paddle. I contacted Drinking Post and they sent out a much larger paddle (looks like a brick) and they took to it right away. We have four systems. The oldest one was installed about four years ago, and we had our first problem when the bowl stopped draining. Customer service was amazing. Tracked the trouble down to the weight inside the valve. The Company sent us a replacement for free. Installed and fixed the problem. After years of having electric heaters run to our automatic waterers, these systems are a life saver. If I had a gripe, it would be they don’t do a great job on the website at explaining, in written directions, how these systems work and how to disassemble/reassemble them. We are in the sticks so the YouTube videos aren’t as helpful. See the photo of the weight. This came out of a 6’ waterer and obviously worked for a good while; however, when draining stopped, the hexagonal replacement the company sent took care of the issue immediately. - 10/13/2024

Effective, worry free, easy to maintain. We have owned our drinking post for almost a year now and it works exactly as expected. Installing the drinking post automatic waterers was the best decision we made when building our barn and paddocks 4 years ago. A special shout out to Brad at drinking post who's customer service is above 5 stars - he is always there to help with any questions and goes above and beyond the call of duty to help with questions, etc. I highly recommend drinking post waterers to everyone I know. Just bought my second one to put in the paddock. After two years I've had no issues (knock on wood) and just bought another horse who watched the others and then walked up and drank from it. Great not having to worry about freezing. I did install a shut off valve 'just in case' which adds some peace of mind for very little cost. Now some followup after 4 years with first one and one year with 2nd. one. All of above still applies EXCEPT the "hinge" on the plate broke off and there was no water available to the 4 y/o drinking post. Keep an eye out for horses/livestock standing around it for long periods of time. - 4/16/2021

My Drinking Post waterer is one of the best purchases I've ever made for me and my horses. I was worried that my 38+ year old gelding would not be able to work it, but he figured it out in no time. We only had 1 issue with it freezing in over 5 years of New England winters and the customer service when we called about that was fabulous. They helped us figure out the problem and it hasn't happened again since.
