Sheep / Goat Automatic Waterer (Ultimate)
$459.00 – $779.00
The Ultimate Drinking Post for Sheep and Goats
The Drinking Post is the most reliable automatic waterer for sheep and goats. It will eliminate all your watering chores – no more chopping ice, scrubbing algae, filling tanks, or dragging hoses! The bowl fills and drains with each use, which provides your animals with fresh, clean water every time they take a drink. It doesn’t require any electricity and it can stay frost-free in temps as low as -50 F/-45.5 C! It’s so sturdy and durable that we’ve backed every Ultimate Drinking Post with a 5 Year Warranty!
The Livestock Paddle Attachment: The Drinking Post for Sheep/Goats features a weighted riser block that attaches to the standard flat paddle. To activate the water, they will butt the riser block forward with their head. This “butting” motion is a natural action for sheep and goats, so it’s more comfortable to use and easier to learn! The Livestock Paddle Attachment will come included with your Drinking Post for Sheep/Goats.

Description
- Doug D.I've had 4 drinkers for my horses for several years now. This year's heat and drought have been TRYING! But I don't waste any water. The units always deliver clean, fresh, and cool water. I don't need to be cleaning green slime out of units every 2 days. In the heat of the day the horses are not standing at a tank splashing out valuable water that is no longer cool. Even when I move horses to a different location, they have no problem finding the drinkers. These are quality units! They are simple to repair when needed! They are priced fairly! It's a win win for us. - 4/16/2022Trista W.I live in Iowa and this has been the easiest winter yet for chores. Very responsive customer service as well. Highly recommend! - 1/16/2022Elizabeth M.I LOVE my drinking post!! Think about all of the stress related to water for your horse, now imagine that gone. No more worrying about whether your horse has water, cleaning buckets or troughs, dumping toughs that could be a breeding ground for algae and mosquitoes, filling buckets, de-icing them, worrying about heated water buckets getting unplugged, etc. It was easy to install - my well guy hooked it up easily and with no prior experience. It was easy to trouble-shoot. When extreme cold weather hit, I had a problem with it leaking. I called Brad who talked me through how to fix it and I (with no plumbing where-with-all) fixed it in 30 seconds. I was very worried that my horse wouldn't figure out how to use it. The key is to 1. introduce them to it and you depress the paddle so that they get used to the sound and know it is where water comes out and 2. use the training paddle. I didn't use the training paddle and my horse wasn't using the waterer. The second I put on the training paddle and dribbled molasses in the bowl he got it IMMEDIATELY. The waterer is outside (under a barn overhang). When I stable my horse overnight in a stall I use a bucket. I've seen him come out of the stall and go to the drinking post rather than drink out of his bucket, he likes it that much. Honestly, I don't know why all horse people don't have one. - 2/01/2020
- Polly M.I think it's been about 6 or 7 years with a DPW and going strong. Northern Illinois winter is no problem. Why anyone is still using heated waterers is a mystery to me. The DPW pays for itself in the savings compared to the energy use of a heated waterer, not to mention how little maintenance it needs. - 4/16/2022Tonia Marshallthey are maintenance free and fresh water on demand, - 10/03/2018Melinda W.I highly recommend the Drinking Post! - 5/14/2020
- Richard C.Just bought my second one to put in the paddock. After two years I've had no issues (knock on wood) and just bought another horse who watched the others and then walked up and drank from it. Great not having to worry about freezing. I did install a shut off valve 'just in case' which adds some peace of mind for very little cost. Now some followup after 4 years with first one and one year with 2nd. one. All of above still applies EXCEPT the "hinge" on the plate broke off and there was no water available to the 4 y/o drinking post. Keep an eye out for horses/livestock standing around it for long periods of time. - 4/16/2021Nadine C.I was skeptical that my mini’s would be able to use the watering post but after dealing with hot Florida summers, mold and hoses I really wanted to give it a try. In the beginning the ponies couldn’t figure out the paddle. I contacted Drinking Post and they sent out a much larger paddle (looks like a brick) and they took to it right away. I am happy to report that even my 6 week old colt has mastered the watering post. - 6/10/2020Polly McGannI’ve had my drinking post watered in Northern Illinois for 3+ years, two horses, and it’s been a champion! I often say it’s the greatest thing since sliced bread. What’s not to love? Easy, safe, healthy for the horses, time and money savings. Had to do some minor maintenance on it this year, replaced the bowl since the holder for a screw did eventually wear down. The maintenance videos are all well done, but I still called for some help and got the best customer service you can imagine. It’s deceptively simple but don’t underestimate it! - 12/07/2018
- Dean W.Started with 4' not thinking the frost would go that deep, my bad... Called and was sent what was needed to extend to 6'. Fantastic Customer service. You can bet I will buy more as my operation grows. Good Job Guys.. - 4/16/2021Maxine D.I should have installed these waterers years ago. If you are looking for one thing that will make your horse owning life easier, my advice would be to get drinking post waterers installed. - 4/16/2021Carl S.I had to starve my cows to it for two days and they used it as long as they couldn't get to a pond then they won't use it - 10/20/2024
- Donald C.Water is always available for livestock, regardless of freezing or high temperatures. Animals quickly learn operation and when new cows are added, the other cows teach the new ones. AND, no troughs to manage or scrub!! - 7/12/2021Deb D.Best purchase I have ever made for our horses and ourselves. Fresh cold water. No stagnate water ever. It has never once failed us through several harsh Michigan winters. Horses were pros after a day! - 4/16/2021Cheryl A.Best waterer I've ever had! Super easy to install and my horses love it. I'll never use anything else. - 4/16/2023
- Mo M.I'm not sure how I could love my Drinking Post waterers more!! We installed them about 2 years ago so they've gone through 2 winters and summers and I think they paid for themselves the first week after installing them! The horses all learned quickly. OK, we have one mare (she's a bit wonky in the head in many ways...) who was a bit of a s l o w learner, but we helped her along and she was using them within three days. Everyone else (15+ horses) had NO trouble whatsoever. The test for me was my big draft cross because he destroys everything and he's been unable to figure out a way to completely destroy them either! They've been put to the test in sub-arctic long stretches and we've never ever had any issues with freezing. And, NO HEATERS!! That alone saves us so much money and time!! We will be putting a new structure up and we will be planning from the start where we want our new DP waterers!! I will NEVER have horses without these!! Oh, and I forgot to mention, there's no algae to deal with in tanks in the summer either! NO, I am NOT paid by them, I just love them that much!! When you're as old as I am and you've had to haul your share of water and break ice as much as I have, to find a solution that seems magical is the best feeling. LOVE LOVE LOVE them. OOOH - and their customer service if you do have a problem??? UNBELIEVABLE! My draft X that destroys literally everything found a way not to break the waterer, but the outside sheath. I called to order a replacement part and he asked for the measurements and sent one to me free of charge. LOVE the product and LOVE the company!! - 4/16/2023Nicole M.These are life changing! Say goodbye to scrubbing algae, filling troughs, frozen hoses, breaking ice, and worrying that your horse isn't drinking enough because the water got hot in the sun. We own a small farm/boarding facility and had 16 of these waterers installed and I couldn't be happier. They're practically maintenance-free and always work - even in the dead of winter. Not only do our horses love them (all but one learned how to use them in under 3 days…the dum-dum took a full 7 days), but they are also great for the goats. We're even contemplating modifying one so it sits just a few inches off the ground so the pigs can use them too! The Drinking Post Waterers are something that I now couldn't imagine being without. -Nicole Marts, Virginia - 5/22/2019Laurie Nelson BlickenstaffSO happy with the Drinking Post Waterers. We've had ours for three years now and couldn't be more pleased. Love that they don't require electricity and work even in the harsh mountain winters! - 5/09/2020
- Val E.I live in Montana, this thing is incredible. I wish I could sell them because they would be the easiest sell ever. Even with weeks of -20 degree nights and highs of maybe 5 degrees, the horses have water. I have never had to clean it and never had an issue. 3 years, 3 horses, it is fantastic. My horses learned how to use it in 5 minutes. It was easy to install and worth every cent. - 4/16/2021DonSure beats filling, cleaning and heating water troughs. My cattle adapted quickly, as do any new additions to the herd. We’ve had our first drinking post about 8 years with minimal maintenance and have installed several more since. Highly recommended! - 4/16/2022Jessica Y.We installed our drinking post this summer for our two warmbloods and 1 mule. I actually have looked forward to the electric bill each month to see the cost savings that the drinking post has given us. So far this winter our electric bill is averaging 300 kWh less then the same month last year when we were using a water tank heater. That is $30 of savings a month just from 1 tank heater! At this rate the drinking post will pay for itself in 2.5 winters. It has been worth every penny! My animals love drinking out of it, getting a fresh consistent temperature water each time. - 2/19/2020
- Tina AtkinsDrinking posts rock! I live in northern Michigan...in sand...with big draft horses who try to knock them around. No issues. Negative twenty or so below zero, no problem. I own two of them going on 4 years. No problems. - 5/09/2020Julie Uzuanis-FergusonThis is the only waterer we will ever have again, period!! Worth it's weight in gold!! - 3/01/2019Brent B.This is the best way to water livestock that I have ever seen. Any season all year long. Every good thing they say about this waterer is true. - 4/16/2021
- Wendy J.I wish I would have done this sooner. No winter electric bill spike to keep the water from freezing. Fresh water all the time and easy to install!! - 4/16/2022Maureen T.We bought our drinking posts about 3 years ago. I have had zero issues with them. We are on a well so once every fall I do take them apart and fully clean them since I do get sediment from the well. However city water should have no issues. My cows have fresh water even on the coldest days and we had record negative temps last winter! The drinking posts did great. I will be ordering more as we add more pens around the barn area. These are a must have for anyone that deals with frozen hoses, tank heaters, evaporation, and algae build up in normal waterers. They are great for horses and cattle and pigs as well. A post for our pigs is in the list for next summer. - 11/16/2023Randy M.Absolutely love the Drinking Post Waterer. Great not having to worry if the cows have fresh or thawed water. Really looking forward to not having to water the cows this winter. They took to it within a day or two including our calf. - 12/16/2023
- Cathy AnneWe don’t need a tank to clean, keep full and put a heater in during the winter. We have a clean, constant, frost free water supply that takes care of all of that. - 12/08/2020Breanna Breworks great in Canada even at -30 - 12/17/2019StraycatEasy install, works flawlessly so far, will see about freezing next Montana winter - 4/16/2021
