Installing the drinking post automatic waterers was the best decision we made when building our barn and paddocks 4 years ago. A special shout out to Brad at drinking post who's customer service is above 5 stars - he is always there to help with any questions and goes above and beyond the call of duty to help with questions, etc. I highly recommend drinking post waterers to everyone I know. We have four systems. The oldest one was installed about four years ago, and we had our first problem when the bowl stopped draining. Customer service was amazing. Tracked the trouble down to the weight inside the valve. The Company sent us a replacement for free. Installed and fixed the problem. After years of having electric heaters run to our automatic waterers, these systems are a life saver. If I had a gripe, it would be they don’t do a great job on the website at explaining, in written directions, how these systems work and how to disassemble/reassemble them. We are in the sticks so the YouTube videos aren’t as helpful. See the photo of the weight. This came out of a 6’ waterer and obviously worked for a good while; however, when draining stopped, the hexagonal replacement the company sent took care of the issue immediately. - 10/13/2024

This is my second review I’m leaving based on the unbeatable customer service. I needed a part on a day they were closed. Not only did they call back, not only did they meet me on a day they closed but I received the part for FREE!!! I’m blown away by this company AND their product. I LOVE my drinking post!! Think about all of the stress related to water for your horse, now imagine that gone. No more worrying about whether your horse has water, cleaning buckets or troughs, dumping toughs that could be a breeding ground for algae and mosquitoes, filling buckets, de-icing them, worrying about heated water buckets getting unplugged, etc. It was easy to install - my well guy hooked it up easily and with no prior experience. It was easy to trouble-shoot. When extreme cold weather hit, I had a problem with it leaking. I called Brad who talked me through how to fix it and I (with no plumbing where-with-all) fixed it in 30 seconds. I was very worried that my horse wouldn't figure out how to use it. The key is to 1. introduce them to it and you depress the paddle so that they get used to the sound and know it is where water comes out and 2. use the training paddle. I didn't use the training paddle and my horse wasn't using the waterer. The second I put on the training paddle and dribbled molasses in the bowl he got it IMMEDIATELY. The waterer is outside (under a barn overhang). When I stable my horse overnight in a stall I use a bucket. I've seen him come out of the stall and go to the drinking post rather than drink out of his bucket, he likes it that much. Honestly, I don't know why all horse people don't have one. - 2/01/2020

its been 4 years since we installed our 1st drinking post and 3 years since we installed the rest. We have 5 total and I will say this. We have had zero issues with them and it has made life so much easier. They never freeze and cleaning takes 2 mins. I've shopped every waterer on the market and I know of at least 5 different brands that are used buy other horse farms around us and by far Drinking post is the best choice by far. they are a little time consuming to install so I was skeptical at first but been probably one of the best things we have done for our horses. - 4/16/2022

We installed DP two years ago in both our barn and pasture. Couldn't be more happy. We had a terrible long winter in the PNW and midst the ice and snow the DP's never failed. Such a gift not to have to plug in water heaters and deal with breaking ice. We bring in new horses for training and it has been amazing to me how quickly they learn to drink from the DP. We installed 2 of the drinking posts and 1 of the Classic Equine waterers. Our horses prefer the drinking post. Water is colder for them. Make sure you put a hard surface around though, the horse can make a mess. - 4/16/2023

My Drinking Post waterer is one of the best purchases I've ever made for me and my horses. I was worried that my 38+ year old gelding would not be able to work it, but he figured it out in no time. We only had 1 issue with it freezing in over 5 years of New England winters and the customer service when we called about that was fabulous. They helped us figure out the problem and it hasn't happened again since. It is so reassuring knowing that my horses have fresh water at a good temperature all the time... and with no electricity to worry about or pay for. I live in Montana, this thing is incredible. I wish I could sell them because they would be the easiest sell ever. Even with weeks of -20 degree nights and highs of maybe 5 degrees, the horses have water. I have never had to clean it and never had an issue. 3 years, 3 horses, it is fantastic. Water is always available for livestock, regardless of freezing or high temperatures. Animals quickly learn operation and when new cows are added, the other cows teach the new ones. AND, no troughs to manage or scrub!! - 7/12/2021

Although we are in the deep south and don't have to battle the sub-zero winters...DP Waterers are still life savers. These waterers have saved our lives in the summer when we have to pour out hundreds of gallons of water every day to keep our water fresh, cool and algae free. Also for those weeks during the winter when we struggle with icy watering troughs the DP Waterers are like little miracles in our pasture (since the only place we are used to ice is in our sweet tea!).
