I LOVE my drinking post!! Think about all of the stress related to water for your horse, now imagine that gone. No more worrying about whether your horse has water, cleaning buckets or troughs, dumping toughs that could be a breeding ground for algae and mosquitoes, filling buckets, de-icing them, worrying about heated water buckets getting unplugged, etc. It was easy to install - my well guy hooked it up easily and with no prior experience. It was easy to trouble-shoot. When extreme cold weather hit, I had a problem with it leaking. I called Brad who talked me through how to fix it and I (with no plumbing where-with-all) fixed it in 30 seconds. I was very worried that my horse wouldn't figure out how to use it. The key is to 1. introduce them to it and you depress the paddle so that they get used to the sound and know it is where water comes out and 2. use the training paddle. I didn't use the training paddle and my horse wasn't using the waterer. The second I put on the training paddle and dribbled molasses in the bowl he got it IMMEDIATELY. The waterer is outside (under a barn overhang). When I stable my horse overnight in a stall I use a bucket. I've seen him come out of the stall and go to the drinking post rather than drink out of his bucket, he likes it that much. Honestly, I don't know why all horse people don't have one. - 2/01/2020

Evening water cooler meeting of the minds! 😆 Wonder what those pipes are for??? If you have horses you MUST invest in The Drinking Post. This is the most incredible and smartest horse investment I have EVER made. These posts are worth their weight in gold. And they pay for themselves! There is no electricity to them!! They are set 18” below the frost line which means water is the perfect temperature 365 days a year. I NEVER have to clean a trough again or bust ice in the winter. I have even noticed clearer ”pp” because they drink so much more. 😉 I have had them installed since January they went through winter without issue. Summer has been great too with all this nasty heat I knew their water was fresh, clean, and cool! The boys were shown how to push the paddle ONCE and took to it like a fish in water. No, I don’t work for them…just a happy happy customer!! My horse chores have been cut drastically. No hoses to drag (200ft), no filling and dumping, no scrubbing…NOTHING! All I have to do is give grain twice a day as their hay is in huts! It takes less than 10 min. Insane! 😍 They are truly incredible!! - 8/17/2022

Just bought my second one to put in the paddock. After two years I've had no issues (knock on wood) and just bought another horse who watched the others and then walked up and drank from it. Great not having to worry about freezing. I did install a shut off valve 'just in case' which adds some peace of mind for very little cost. Now some followup after 4 years with first one and one year with 2nd. one. All of above still applies EXCEPT the "hinge" on the plate broke off and there was no water available to the 4 y/o drinking post. Keep an eye out for horses/livestock standing around it for long periods of time. - 4/16/2021

Installed in October and so far so good. The goats learned how to use it and so far it’s working as advertised. Haven’t had any below zero weather yet. I’m wondering if the drain might freeze up when it’s really cold. Install was pretty straightforward. I’m lucky enough to have a neighbor with a backhoe but if you don’t have access to a backhoe or excavator install with a shovel would be very time consuming. - 1/16/2024

My Drinking Post waterer is one of the best purchases I've ever made for me and my horses. I was worried that my 38+ year old gelding would not be able to work it, but he figured it out in no time. We only had 1 issue with it freezing in over 5 years of New England winters and the customer service when we called about that was fabulous. They helped us figure out the problem and it hasn't happened again since. It is so reassuring knowing that my horses have fresh water at a good temperature all the time... and with no electricity to worry about or pay for. I bought one based on the recommendation of my son, who lives in Minneapolis. It was easy to install, and after the horses learned how it works, has been fantastic. I haven't cleaned a horse tank or used a de-icer since I put it in. And, there is no electricity involved. I love it!! - 4/16/2021

I love it!!!! no more checking the trough, no more cleaning the trough, I did take the advice of another review and built a cage out of 1x1x1/4 angle iron I had around the farm, same length as the post and buried with the post. Glad I did, the first day 10 cows figured it out, they were pretty rough around the post. Haven't had this during the winter yet, but I'm not expecting to have any problems since I went an extra foot deeper than recommended depth with good gravel ground and excellent drainage. Really glad I bought two, both pastures have clean fresh water all the time. Highly recommend, no wires, breakers, and if my power goes out, which happens more than I like, I'm able to run my water pump with a back up generator and not worry about the extra draw to run a heater also! - 4/16/2022

We currently have 8 drinking post automatic waterers for our horses. We have one in each of 3 paddocks and 1 in each of our 5 stalls. Installing the drinking post automatic waterers was the best decision we made when building our barn and paddocks 4 years ago. A special shout out to Brad at drinking post who's customer service is above 5 stars - he is always there to help with any questions and goes above and beyond the call of duty to help with questions, etc. I highly recommend drinking post waterers to everyone I know. They are maintenance free except for the occassional cleaning of grass that horses sometimes leave when they take a drink. I love these waterers!!! - 11/17/2020

I live in Montana, this thing is incredible. I wish I could sell them because they would be the easiest sell ever. Even with weeks of -20 degree nights and highs of maybe 5 degrees, the horses have water. I have never had to clean it and never had an issue. 3 years, 3 horses, it is fantastic. We installed 2 of the drinking posts and 1 of the Classic Equine waterers. Our horses prefer the drinking post. Water is colder for them. Make sure you put a hard surface around though, the horse can make a mess. - 4/16/2023

We installed our drinking post this summer for our two warmbloods and 1 mule. I actually have looked forward to the electric bill each month to see the cost savings that the drinking post has given us. So far this winter our electric bill is averaging 300 kWh less then the same month last year when we were using a water tank heater. That is $30 of savings a month just from 1 tank heater! At this rate the drinking post will pay for itself in 2.5 winters. It has been worth every penny!
